Karibu (Welcome to) Zanziblue, an oasis of tranquility on the white sands of Matemwe Beach, Zanzibar!
Enjoy expansive ocean views from all rooms and terraces in a peaceful setting, surrounded by lush flowering gardens and palm trees. At Zanziblue, you are literally feet in the sand and steps from the Indian Ocean where you can swim every day at mid and high tide.
Our rooms have been designed to evoke a Zanzibari feel in a modern interpretation while maintaining high-end finishes and modern amenities such as free internet and air conditioning.
Our team will be happy to organize your entire vacation in Zanzibar: from transfers in WIFI-ed cars, to private and personalized excursions, to creating memorable moments such as romantic dinners under the stars, birthday celebrations, or renewal of vows... we are there to help, always with a genuine smile and always with a little bit of extra care.
Last but not least, we received rave reviews for our restaurant, branded Mzee Husa. Our partner, Swedish Chef Jussi Husa, has designed a unique Nordic - Swahili cuisine that emphasizes locally sourced ingredients and even uses herbs and vegetables you will see in our gardens.

A short car transfer and boat ride will get you to Mnemba Island, in fact you can see the island from our resort. This spectacular marine conservation area offers scuba divers an opportunity to view brightly coloured fish and corals up close. There is also a high probability of seeing dolphins in this area.
Half day trips leave around 7:30am to beat the crowd and so that you can return to our resort in time for lunch.
For an even more special experience, we can organise a private BBQ on the white sands of Muyuni Beach.
Tanzania is known for breathtaking safaris and in Zanzibar this takes place underwater. Dive into the Indian Ocean and see ocean life up close. Some of the best scuba diving spots in Zanzibar are also around Mnemba. If you are an experienced diver or you want to discover scuba diving for the first time, we will be pleased to arrange it for you.
Set off by boat into the Indian Ocean in search of Tuna, Barracuda, Kingfish, Dorados and many other delicious species.
You will leave very early in the morning and return early in the afternoon. Our chefs will also be pleased to prepare your catch of the day.
Enjoy a half day trip to Nungwi in the afternoon in time for a show stopping sunset. Nungwi in the north-west is the touristic part of the island with many restaurants and bars, offering many options for sundowners or dinner on the beach. We recommend coordinating this trip with a visit to the Mnarani Turtle Sanctuary, a large natural tidal pool dedicated to the rehabilitation and breeding of green turtles.
Take in the sunset without the crowds while cruising the Indian Ocean on a big wooden local sailing boat, heading south between the main Island (Unguja) and Tumbatu Island. You can witness the sun sink towards the horizon from the vantage point of the sun deck and also see how the captain maneuvers his triangle shaped sail. As the sun sets behind Tumbatu, you can enjoy your pre-ordered drinks.
The cruise starts at around 4pm in Kendwa (on the west coast of the island) and takes approx 2 hours.
A guided walk through the colorful streets of Stone Town includes the City's key attractions - Forodhani Park, the Old Fort, the Old Dispensary, the Peace Memorial Museum, the Palace Museum and the House of Wonders. Also worthwhile seeing is the Darajani Fish, Fruit and Spice Market but be prepared for the smells.
The guided walk takes approx 1 - 2 hours and can be arranged for any time of the day.
About 5km’s north west of Zanzibar Town, a 20 - 30 minute boat ride away, you will reach an island once used to detain “recalcitrant” slaves and later as a quarantine station. Today, it is better known for its colony of giant tortoises. There is also a small beach and a nearby reef, perfect for a bit of snorkelling. We recommend combining this trip with a visit to Stone Town.
If you are curious to learn more about what cloves, vanilla, cinnamon and other spices look like in the wild, then we definitely recommend that you visit one of the many spice farms on the island. Tours take approximately half a day: 1 hour transfer to the plantation, 1 - 2 hours visit and 30 minutes for an exotic fruit tasting and opportunity to shop the spices.
You can combine this with a Stone Town visit in a one day trip.
This is the largest area of mature forest left in Zanzibar where you can discover populations of the rare Red Colobus Monkey, as well as Sykes Monkeys, bush babies, more than 50 species of butterflies, about 40 species of birds and several other animals. Adjacent to the park is a fascinating mangrove forest, which can be explored via a winding boardwalk. The park is open daily from 7.30am until 5.00pm. The guided visit takes approx 1 hour.
You could combine this with a trip to The Rock, Paje or Jambiani for a full day exploration.
Uniquely positioned on top of a boulder in the middle of the Indian Ocean, The Rock is a charming, exclusive restaurant that has in a short space of time become one of the icons of the island. When the tide is low, visitors can reach the restaurant by foot. When the tide is high a boat service is provided.
We will be pleased to make the arrangements for you (book a table for lunch, dinner or drinks only).
The south-eastern coast of Zanzibar is well known for its world class kite-surfing spots and picturesque seaweed farm dotted with seaweed mamas.
You could tie this in with a trip to Jozani National Park or The Rock restaurant.
Enjoy a full day journey by dhow (Zanzibar’s traditional sailing boat) into the deep blue waters of the Indian Ocean for some snorkelling, a fresh seafood barbecue, exotic fruit tasting, dolphins spotting and more.
This full day trip will see you leave early in the morning around 7.30am to go to Fumba (southern part of the island where you embark). You will return in time for dinner.
We are proud to be among the very few on the island who can organise this unique, off the beaten path day trip to Uzi Island, to experience the authentic and unspoiled stretches of Zanzibar, combined with a paddle (SUP or kayak) through the wild mangroves. A village tour, a generous seafood lunch and the amazing mangrove paddling are part of this unforgettable safari.
This full day trip starts after breakfast (around 9am) and you will return before dinner.
In 1991 a private nature reserve was founded for the conservation and sustainable management of uninhabited Chumbe Island off Zanzibar. The reserve includes a fully protected coral reef sanctuary and forest reserve that harbours rare wildlife, a visitor and education centre, a small eco-lodge, nature walks and historical monuments.
Starting around 8am, this full day trip will finish before dinner.
Our team is trained to keep a safe distance, to disinfect their hands regularly and to disinfect several times a day the common areas, machines and buttons with which our guests are in contact.
We have always carried out a thorough cleaning in our villas, rooms and common areas. However, since the beginning of the health crisis, we have been using more powerful products and disinfectants, which allows us to reduce the risk of transmission as much as possible.
Zanziblue is located in Kilimajuu, a small fishermen village, part of the Matemwe region on the North East coast. Expect an approx. 60-80 minutes drive from the airport. Please let us know if you want us to arrange for a car and driver to come and pick you up.
We offer our guests a breakfast service delivered on your terrace included in the accommodation price.
Breakfast is served between 7am and 10.00am.
